Our work is inspired by the goal to help children and families, particularly those from marginalized communities. At the moment, the following questions guide our research. We acknowledge that these questions may change over time as we learn from research, families, students, and community members.

How do parent-child interactions develop over time and shape child socialization?

How can we help parents support themselves and their child on their path towards healthy socialization?

How can we adapt and refine early parenting interventions to increase access to care in marginalized communities?

Active Projects

Helping Toddlers and Parents Together

Does your toddler experience extreme & intense outbursts? Do you struggle to organize and plan your day? We are partnering with Children’s National Hospital to develop an early intervention to learn what strategies are most helpful in improving caregiver, child and family functioning.

Little PEAS Study

How do caregivers & toddlers develop in the first few years of life? We plan to recruit caregivers and their toddlers from marginalized communities to complete parent-child interactions over time.

Parenting Daily Diary

How does parenting change from day to day? How might child behavior or parent stress affect those changes? We plan to recruit parents to complete a daily 5-minute text survey about parenting.
